Volunteer Opportunities
|
Friends of Schmitz Park
offers many ways for individuals and groups to volunteer in the park. Work
parties are scheduled the last Saturday of each month from 9 am to 12 pm,
rain or shine. FOSP members can
help lead school groups, clubs and community groups in a park activity.

|
Here are some of the possibilities:

Remove non-native invasive
plants such as English ivy,
Himalayan blackberry,
morning glory and holly.
-
Replant disturbed
areas
-

Monitor restored areas
-
Salvage native plants
-
Propagate native plants
-
Inventory plants and animal species
-
Apply for grants
-
Help recruit, greet and organize
volunteers

we have a place for you. Join your neighbors and help to
improve and preserve a valuable native habitat.
Participants under the age of 16 are most welcome
but must be accompanied by a parent or adult guardian.
