Volunteer

Friends of Schmitz Park offers many ways for individuals and groups to volunteer in the park. Work parties are scheduled the last Saturday of each month from 9 am to 12 pm, rain or shine. FOSP members can help lead school groups, clubs and community groups in a park activity.

Here are some of the possibilities:

  • Remove non-native invasive plants such as English ivy, Himalayan blackberry,
    morning glory and holly.

  • Replant disturbed areas

  • Pick up litter

  • Improve trails

  • Monitor restored areas

  • Salvage native plants

  • Propagate native plants

  • Inventory plants and animal species

  • Apply for grants

  • Help recruit, greet and organize volunteers

  • Fundraise

  • Adopt an area for study and restoration
